Casablanca monitors the valley’s different climatic zones thanks to the meteorological stations located in different points. The results of this study shows significant temperature and humidity differences between lower Casablanca (closest to the sea) and upper Casablanca (closest to the mountains). Casablanca’s mesoclimate is cold and all its microclimates are internationally classified as cold.
Today, with so many new areas in production, these zones have multiplied to show the diversity of mesoclimates present in the area, but also demonstrating the possibility of creating different wines within the same denomination of origin, despite using the same grape variety and similar winegrowing and winemaking techniques.
Monitoring Zones:
La Vinilla
Tapihue Bajo
Tapihue Alto
Lo Ovalle
Lo Orozco
El Ensueño
Las Dichas
Lo Orrego
All the Casablanca Valley has cold weather with a Winkler Index under 1,000 units and about 1,800 units of Cumulative Chilling Hours (CCHH).
